Fundamentals of Translation I
Part 1 of this series will provide students solid translation theory and practice. Through examples and practices, we will have a firm understanding of register, idiomatic expressions, calques, reformulation, transposition, active & passive voice, modulation, equivalence, adaptation, compensation, and others.
2 Units of continuing education approved by State Language Access Programs for court interpreters certified in the following states:
CA, CO, KY, MD, MO, NM, NC, OR, PA, TN, TX, WI.
2.0 Units of continuing education approved by CEAP for CCHI certified interpreters.
2 Units of continuing education approved by the American Translators Association (ATA) for certified translators.
What We'll Learn
Review the most important theory and techniques in translation.
Learn, through practice and examples, how to apply theoretical concepts.
Identify the most common pitfalls in translation.
